LIFF Announces Closing Film - The Trip
Long Beach Island, New Jersey
June 1, 2011

This is one trip you won't want to miss! The closing film of the Lighthouse International Film Festival, Sunday, June 5, at 4:30 pm at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies, NJ, is Michael Winterbottom's The Trip starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

This loosely autobiographical and hilarious road comedy follows two friends as they take a road trip to Northern England to review the area's best restaurants for a magazine article. Over the course of six different meals at six different restaurants, the ultimate odd couple tests the limits of their friendship, questioning what is most important to them and discover the limits of what they are and are not willing to give up for fame.

Coogan is a stunningly quick wit; Brydon is an endearingly funny master of impersonations and their non-stop chat sessions are both intelligent and rather bizarre. Much of the fun comes from seeing two professional comics try to one-up the other. As icing on the cake, The Trip offers some truly gorgeous UK landscapes and shows off some stunningly alluring foodstuffs.

The movie will be opening in theaters after June 10, but can be seen this weekend on Long Beach Island along with more than 60 additional national and international films in three different venues on the Island beginning Friday, June 3, at 6 pm with the Opening Film Salvation Boulevard. For information on all of the events and ticket prices go to www.lighthousefilmfestival.org. College students with a valid ID are being admitted FREE to all movies as long as space is available.
