2010 Press Release

Special Films Events Highlight the LIFF
Long Beach Island, New Jersey
May 24, 2010

Special films and special events are some of the highlights of the Lighthouse International Film Festival being held at four different venues on Long Beach Island during the weekend of June 4-6. The Feature Documentary Film Card Subject to Change, having its Northeast premiere on Saturday evening at the Beach Haven School, examines a NJ-based independent wrestling circuit, from once famous wrestlers to the new crop of hopefuls. This is an inside look at the sacrifices and distractions its participants endure as well as the complex family lives they lead, in the pursuit of something that may very well not be possible. Here is a story that shows the human aspects of the individual wrestlers involved and why many of them continue long after the sport has battered their bodies and their dreams.

A free to the public, wrestling event will be happening as a preview to the film at 6:30 pm Saturday evening. Watch the website for more details.

KIDSFirst Films will be showing at 1 pm and 2:30 pm at the Ocean County Library in Surf City. The earlier ones-Giraffes Can't Dance and Curious George 2: Follow that Monkey- are appropriate for children ages 2-5 years while the later ones- Diary of a Spider and Gym Teacher from the Black Lagoon are slated for 5-8 year olds. Each of the films is free and each child will get a goodie bag containing treats and coupons.
